1950''s Ben Reig Designer Wool Blazer

Rare!! Women''s most beautiful vintage 1950s Ben Reig Designer Wool Blazer. In mint condition. Sits right at the hips and has slight shoulder pads. Women''s size small.

BEN REIG design company of New York City opened in 1929. Its most notable designers were Omar Kiam (1941-1954) and Eva Rosencrans (starting 1961). Kiam also designed costume jewelry. The designs were known for expensive elegance. A womans wool tweed suit cost $265 in 1954 (2019 inflation cost of $2,527). Ben Reig died in 1968 ; his widow, Doris Reig Arluck continued the label until 1972. Omar Kiam was born Alexander Kiam in Mexico in 1895. Omar was a nickname, which he adopted professionally. After studying in Paris, he designed costumes for theatre on Broadway, then Hollywood. He is most noted for Janet Gaynor''s wardrobe in A STAR IS BORN.
